We purchased this vehicle from a mechanic in the Bay Area who acquired the car from a longtime client of his who had recently passed away. The previous owner had owned the car for many years, believed to be since it was nearly new. The mechanic had aspirations of eventually retiring and enjoying the car himself, but after sitting for the past two years, we were able to convince him to sell it. What makes this car especially desirable is that it is a later-production 964. This example benefits from many of the refinements and updates Porsche made throughout the model’s production run. Enthusiasts often regard the 1992–1994 cars as the most desirable 964s, as many of the earlier issues had already been resolved by this point. Later cars received updated cylinder head sealing improvements, revised suspension components, improved flywheel updates, and numerous small refinements that made the cars more reliable and better sorted overall. Production numbers for these later-year 964s were also significantly lower, making clean examples increasingly difficult to find today. This example is finished in its original Grand Prix White over a Cashmere interior. The cosmetic condition is shown in the video. Mechanically, the car runs and drives very well. The engine sounds healthy and pulls strongly, and the transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The brake warning light and ABS light are currently illuminated. Due to sitting for the past two years, the car would benefit from a fresh service. Right before the previous owner passed away, the car received a major service at Porsche Walnut Creek in April 2021 at approximately 134k miles totaling over $12,000. Work included a full fluid service, fuel pump and fuel system service, new filters, spark plugs, ignition rotor, distributor belt, complete four-wheel brake service with pads and rotors, and four new tires.
